SUSSEX SCHOOLS BADMINTON NEWSLETTER

ISSUE 8 (ONLINE VERSION) - JANUARY 2004

Welcome and a Happy New Year to you all - if it’s not too late to say. We received from the English Institute of Sport (EIS) 3 days before Christmas a sheet packed with calorie information on Christmas foods - did we really want to know how many calories a mince pie has or whether a slice of salmon is better for you than a slice of turkey? No we didn't want to know this extremely interesting information, as interesting it was, just before Christmas but it is, however, important to know that proper nutrition is vital if you play regular sport. In the next issue there will be an article on the right foods to eat before and during a tournament. The interview with Jo Goode will also appear in the next issue as there was not enough space in this issue.

Following an unfortunate incident at a local tournament we would appeal to organizers to use their common sense in allowing children a suitable break between games and in following court etiquette, eg. taking a drink during a game. These are children we are encouraging into the sport.
